Audix DP7 Drum Mic Pack

by Seth Weber on September 1, 2009

Seven amazing mics in one package, what’s not to love? The DP7 has two ADX51 overheads, one D6 kick mic, one i5 snare mic, 2 D2 tom mics and 1 d4 floor tom mic. (Check out my review of the D6 for more details on it.) All of these mics can also be used to mic other instruments, and the set comes with a chart of things that each mic is good for recording. I have personally used these mics on drums and other instrument and know for a fact that they are some of the best mics out there!

The Positives

  • 7 awesome mics for an amazing price! $899. Where buying them seperatly would cost nearly $1200
  • Plus it comes with a case for the mics, which for me is very useful.
  • You’ll get some of the best drum sounds you’ve ever heard from these mics.

The Negatives

  • The only thing I could say negative about these mics is that I would suggest that you test other overhead mics to see if you like them better, you may want to even use multiple sets of overheads for recording and choose which ones to use in the mixing process or mix them together.

So I say if you need a good set of mics, get these, especially if you don’t want to spend $1200 buying them seperately. Does this mic pack from Audix rock? Yes!

If you don’t have the money to buy them all together right now I would still suggest the mics that are in the pack because they are all awesome mics. (If you click on the images of them above it will take you directly to where you can purchase these mics on Music123)
