After using the PreSonus Firebox for a few years in my basement “studio” we wanted more channels, so we decided to go with the Tascam US-1641 USB Interface. I enjoyed using this interface, and have gotten some great sounds out of it, although it has its faults, so basically I’m just gonna skip to the Positives and Negatives part:
The Positives
- 8 XLR inputs (all phantom power capable)
- 2 instrument cable (1/4 inch) inputs
- Zero-latency hardware monitoring
- USB 2.0
- Up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution
The Negatives
- Not very user friendly monitoring and headphone monitoring system. (Depending partly on what recording program you are using)
- I have had probems and heard of some others who have problems using this device with Macs.
